Holmwood Common and Parkgate
A bakers dozen (to avoid the number 13 for the superstitious)left Inholms car park with the promise of an early spring walk ahead of us which was fulfilled in its entirety The birds were singing, wild flowers growing and all the threatening hoses were away at the Cheltenham races so no problems at all
A warm welcome awaited us at the Surrey Oaks who also had their spring menu out and a well exercised group were returned to the car park in due course
Car essential Take the A24 past Box Hill go south of Dorking towards Horsham and about 2 miles up the hill from the A25/A24 roundabout at that roundabout take the first exit left onto a B road sinposted North Holmwood Take the secnd exit left BEFORE the church and rive up the hill leaving the church on your right The carpark is on your right on the crest of the hill (no charge)
We walk through Holmwood Common onto open farm land and further woods and heath land Muddy in places Some stiles Some deceptive upward pulls
